Unpacking and Installation -
Improper installation may damage the
copier. Please note the following during initial installation and
whenever the copier is moved. Failure to follow these instructions or
operate copier prior to correctly completing these instructions voids
warranty.
1) Installing conditions
A) Copier installation - Do not install your
copier in areas that are:
- damp, humid, or very dusty
- exposed to direct sunlight
- poorly ventilated
- subject to extreme temperature or humidity changes, e.g., near
an are conditioner or heater
- Be sure to allow the required space around the machine for
servicing and proper ventilation.
B) Power Source
- Use an exclusive-use power outlet. If the power plug of this
machine is inserted into a power outlet commonly used with other
illumination units, flickers of the lamp will result. Use a power
outlet which is not commonly with any illumination units.
- Avoid complex wiring.
C) Grounding the wire connection.
- To avoid danger, be sure to connect a grounding wire. If no
grounding wire is connected and leakage occurs, a fire or an electrical
shock may occur.
2) Removal of protective material and fixing screw.
A) Remove all tape and protective material.
- Remove all tapes, then open the document cover and remove the
protective materials of sheet shape.
B) Remove the fixing screw.
- Use a coin to remove the optic fixing screw located on the
upper-left-side exterior panel.
- The fixing screw is required when transporting the machine.
There is a slot to store it in the paper tray.
Developer Installation - This procedure MUST be preformed BEFORE
installing toner or powering on a new machine.
1) Open the manual tray, and open the side
cover.

2) Open the front cover (Hold both sides and pull down to open).

3) Loosen the screw and remove the developer cartridge.
Note: When
handling the developer unit be careful not to bend or distort the
plastic shield just above the magnetic roller.

4) Remove the brass colored screws which fix the toner hopper and
developer unit then separate the two halves for your copier model.
Note: If preforming developer replacement procedure it is necessary to
remove all of the old developer from the unit first including that
which is magnetically adhered to the magnetic roller. Turning the screw
& gear on the end of the magnetic roller CLOCKWISE to rotate the
magnetic roller will aid in the removal. Use of a vacuum cleaner is
necessary being careful not to scrape the roller. Simulation 20
sub-code 1 resets the maintenance required warning light and simulation
42 sub-code 1 resets the developer replacement required warning light.
5) Supply developer along the developer tank and over the stirring
auger.
Note: Shake
the developer bag enough before opening it. Be careful not to splash
developer outside Developer unit. THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE DEVELOPER
BAG RE REQUIRED. If necessary turn the screw & gear on the end of
the magnetic roller CLOCKWISE to allow more room.

6) Attach the developer tank to the developer cartridge.
Note: After
supplying the developer into the developer cartridge, do not tilt or
shake the developer cartridge.
7) Attach the developer cartridge to the copier, and fix it with the
screw.
8) Insert the toner cartridge into the machine insuring that the
cartridge in seated FIRMLY and COMPLETELY to the back of the machine.
Failure to insert the toner cartridge completely may result in a
clicking sound and possible failure of the toner cartridge.
9) Assure that all setup procedures are correctly completed and apply
power to the copier for the first time.
Note: The
copier will now self-calibrate. THIS PROCESS MAY TAKE UP TO 5 MINUTES
AND MUST NOT BE INTERUPTED.
10) When the green Stat Key indicater comes on steadily the copier is
ready to make copies.
If preforming developer REPLACEMENT it may be necessary
to reset the developer counter and the maintenance indicator.
A) Developer counter re-setting.
•Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
•Press "Clear" - "Interrupt" - "Zero" - "Interrupt".
Machine will blank off.
•Use the number buttons to make display read "42".
Press "Print" button. Machine will flash 00.
•Use quantity buttons to make display read "01".
Press "Print" button. Machine will flash 000
•Press "Clear" - "Clear" - "Clear" - "Clear" and
power machine off and back on.
•Preform this procedure at you own risk. Incorrect
entry of codes can disable machine requiring service call.
A) Maintenance counter re-setting.
•Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
•Press "Clear" - "Interrupt" - "Zero" - "Interrupt".
Machine will blank off.
•Use quantity buttons to make display read "20".
Press "Print" button. Machine will flash 00.
•Use quantity buttons to make display read "01".
Press "Print" button. Machine will flash 000
•Press "Clear" - "Clear" - "Clear" - "Clear" and
power machine off and back on.
•Preform this procedure at you own risk. Incorrect
entry of codes can disable machine requiring service call.
